CIVILS & ELECTRICAL DESIGN GRIP 5 FEEDER DESIGN OF TROUGHING ROUTE WITH NETWORK RAIL’S BIM

Client: Network Rail
Main Contractor: BCM Construction
Subcontractor: Equate Design Limited
Brief:

To design the High Voltage Independent Feeder route from Royal Wootton Bassett ATFS to Thingley Junction ATFS

Method:

In accordance with Network Rail’s Technical Work Scope, EQUATE surveyed the route using a combination of possession shifts and open line working to produce a survey model. Within Network Rail’s BIM environment, using Bentley MicroStation as the modelling tool and ProjectWise for the interface, EQUATE 3D CAD Designers positioned the troughing route avoiding the work of other discipline designers also working within the model.

Regular Interdisciplinary Check Meetings were held with the client to ensure compliance and resolve any clash issues with OLE developments.

Deliverables:

In addition to work within the model, EQUATE produced over 30 No. Routework, Pinch Point and Standard Detail AFC drawings.
