CIVILS DESIGN GRIP 5-8 DESIGN OF CABLE ROUTE

Client: Network Rail
Main Contractor: BCM Construction
Subcontractor: Equate Design Limited
Brief:

The principal objective was to Design a HV Feeder, associated pilot and fibre cable routes between Ore Substation and Hastings Grid.

Method:

Site specific investigations were carried out such as topographical, ground penetrating radar (GPR), trial pit surveys and structural analysis of existing assets prior to producing the proposed design.

Workshop, interface meetings and site walkouts were held with Network Rail, UKPN Grid engineers and electrical designers to ensure minimum restoration time for Network Rail and minimum impact on UKPN Network during the works.

Designs were produced in accordance with NR/L2/CIV/003 and to comply with NR/SP/ELP/27224 Specification for installation of cable routes forming part of the traction distribution system.
